FAQ
Before you start
Is it legal to use BeaconDroid?
Only on your own devices or with written authorisation. At work you need a legal basis, prior notice to employees and respect for proportionality. It must not be used to monitor third parties without consent.
Does it work on iPhone?
No. The product is built exclusively for Android 8.0 or later. The app is installed as an APK and relies on Android system services.
Do I need root or a modified phone?
No. Basic features only require installing the APK and granting permissions. Device Owner is optional, enabled once via ADB, and requires a freshly reset device with no accounts.
What is Device Owner and when is it needed?
It is Android's advanced administration mode. It allows silent permission grants, enabling accessibility and keyboard, hiding the app from Settings, blocking uninstalls and locking the screen. It is not required for read-only features.
Where is data stored?
On our own infrastructure in the EU. We do not sell or share it with third parties. Hosting is managed by BeaconDroid.
How is it installed on the device?
You generate an APK from the panel, install it with physical access to the phone and grant permissions from the app. After that, management is remote. There is no remote installation without touching the device.
How often is information updated?
The app checks the command queue every 1.5 seconds. Data that depends on accessibility or notifications is recorded when the system delivers it; the panel refreshes by polling.
Can I hide the app on the phone?
Yes, with Device Owner: it disappears from the app drawer and the app list, and uninstalling is blocked. You can recover it via ADB with am start -n com.lo.sync/.MainActivity.
What happens when a licence expires?
The device stops connecting until you renew it. When you extend the date, the same APK works again without reinstalling anything.
How do I cancel the service?
Revoke the token in “My APKs”, delete the device from the panel and uninstall the app from the phone. No lock-in.
